FRIENDS OF AMAANA
The “Friends of AMAANA” initiative aims to encourage fathers, male siblings, cousins, uncles, as well as male friends and supporters of Muslim families with disabilities in our community to play a larger role in supporting AMAANA’s mission and vision.
MISSION: AMAANA is a Muslim community center aiming to support the needs of Louisiana Muslim families with disabilities; through Acceptance, meaningful Accessibility, ongoing Advocacy in partnership with local Muslim and disability organizations.
VISION: AMAANA aspires to hold local Muslim families with disabilities as an “AMAANA” and will do its Fard Kifayah (communal obligation) to serve them through Education, strong Advocacy in addition to Language, Physical, Information and Service Access.
Friends of AMAANA collaborate with the Board of Directors and Co-Executive Directors to address current and/or future needs, cooperate with other organizations, and assist in fundraising and compliance. In addition to spreading awareness for the needs of families with disabilities in our local community, members of Friends of AMAANA help fathers understand and accept the special needs of their own children living with a disability exceptionality.
We thank the compassionate Friends of AMAANA for their support and involvement, which is most crucial to the success of AMAANA in our community and getting the essential support to those who need it most.
The Friends of AMAANA work together to assist AMAANA, its mission, and vision, and act as AMAANA’s voice in the community by using their social capital and access to male-dominated spaces to bring more awareness to the communities’ disability needs. In turn, we hope this will bring much-needed local support as well as acceptance to families living with an exceptionality.
